"Good Fights" is an unreleased song by Lorde that was intended for her debut studio album, Pure Heroine.
Background[]
"Good Fights" was an unreleased track originally intended for Pure Heroine, however, it never made the final cut. Despite this, Lorde occasionally performed it live during her Pure Heroine Tour.[1][2][3]
Some fans hoped the song would be included on Lorde’s sophomore album, Melodrama, but it was ultimately left out. In 2017, Lorde revealed that there were a number of unreleased songs that one day might see the light of day, sparking speculation that "Good Fights" could be one of these songs.
Lyrics[]
[Verse 1]
Face the world, tell your friends
You don’t really love them,
But you really love when
Braid your hair and give in
You can try to get in to the place where it ends
Where everything ends, it spins again
[Chorus]
Ooh, didn’t come all this way just for broken knives
Ooh, you can feel sorry for there are people in your mind
Ooh, nothing feels close, even when you don’t feel alright
It’s alright, it’s alright
Everyone stay up like a good fight
[Verse 2]
There a place in your head
For what doesn't make sense
For the things you don’t get
Look them up when you get in
You can try to get in, get rejected again
Laugh it off again, I guess oh well
[Chorus]
Ooh, didn’t come all this way just for broken knives
Ooh, you can feel sorry for there are people in your mind
Ooh, nothing feels close, even when you don’t feel alright
It’s alright, it’s alright
Everyone stay up like a good fight
[Bridge]
Incurred on to bright green eyes
You still love to spend up time
Driving like a car with the headlights out
Oh...
Money, it’s all the same
She’ll toss her hair, and play again
Examine love again and recognize
Oh, it's good to feel again
Ooh, didn’t come all this way just for broken knives
Ooh, you can feel sorry for there are people in your mind
Ooh, nothing feels close, even when you don’t feel alright
It’s alright, it’s alright
Everyone stay up like a good fight
